Ballet Classes

Ballet classes consist of students learning ballet terminology and the pronunciation, meaning, and precise body form and movement associated with each term. Emphasis is placed on strengthening the legs and core. A strong core is required for many ballet movements and is essential in developing flexibility and strengthening legs and feet. The beginning of class is dedicated to yoga and stretching so the dancer can strengthen and elongate the entire body while practicing control and poise. Once the body is warm, students move onto barre work to develop turnout, proper posture, and precision. Center work proceeds the barre which includes variations of jumps, leaps, turns and intricate footwork.
