Lyrical and Expressive Dance Classes

Lyrical Dance is somewhat similar to ballet, combining the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom, fluidity, expressiveness and airier aspects of jazz, contemporary and modern dance. Lyrical dance is expressive, simultaneously subtle and dynamic, focused on conveying musicality and emotion through movement. Classes begin with yoga, stretching and strengthening exercises. Once the body is warm the class will move onto technique and form including ballet and jazz terminology. Lyrical combinations will be paired with expressive music in which the dancer will learn to use their fluidity to portray emotion. We encourage each student to find music they can creatively relate to.
